Intro to Kayaking
This four-day introductory kayak course is a fun adventure into the life-long sport of whitewater kayaking. We follow a safe and straightforward learning progression in a supportive environment. The course begins with a basic introduction to the sport, terminology, equipment orientation, and wet exits. All students are provided with the latest in kayak equipment. We’ll spend ample time at Trout Lake playing games that will help us learn the fundamental skills to maneuver the kayak with control. The following morning we will go to a prime location on San Miguel River and learn about the eddy turn and peel out. Later students will complete a small section of river through the valley floor. Day four will be a team building adventure, as we head to the Hanging flume section of the Dolores River. Here the students will have the opportunity to put all of their newly acquired skills to the test in the ideal and safe environment.
