Cataract Canyon

Join the Telluride kayak School for a rip-roaring adventure through the steepest part of the Colorado River. The first day on the water is a motorboat trip through fifty miles of incredible desert canyon. As we reach the confluence of the Green and Colorado Rivers in the heart of Canyonlands National Park, we prepare for the colossal rapids of Cataract Canyon. The rapids start off small and then progressively get bigger, culminating at the “Big Drops.” The last segment of the trip consists of exploring the lower canyons of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, and our final destination of Hite Marina. This stretch of river is truly rugged and action-packed. If you’re ready to push your skills, this trip is for you. The peak season for big whitewater is May and June. As the water drops the river moderates throughout the summer months.
