What if only some people in our group just want to raft?
That's fine. We can make sure to find a comfy home for the non-kayakers in your group on the big boats. Depending on the trip we may be able to apply a lower price for the rafters in your group.
What about toilet facilities?
The toilet on the river is not much different than what you have at home, except the view is much better. We bring a portable toilet that is set up in a private location in camp and then packed up the next morning secure on the rafts. During the day it is provided as needed. There is a portable facility for washing hands with soap and water.
What about the food?
We provide and prepare all the meals. Our guides are great cooks. They do all of the work of preparing high quality, healthy meals made with fresh ingredients. There is a variety of fruits and vegetables, and meat and non-meat choices. The evening meals are grilled and baked to perfection. We accommodate a variety of diets and will assist with dietary restrictions as well.
Do you provide tents, sleeping bags and pads?
If you or members of your party need to rent tents, sleeping bags or pads, we ask that you reserve them in advance. Rental fee is $50/package.
Where does this trip start?
We usually meet at Jagged Edge in Telluride at 5:00pm the evening before to get outfitted with the gear. The next morning we'll load up in our van and get on the road between 6-8am. We can also pick you up at the closest Airport or meet you at or near the put-in.
What do I wear when we're not kayaking?
Comfortable clothes that can get wet: swimsuits, quick drying shorts and /or pants and T and/or long sleeve shirts. Bring long pants and long-sleeve shirts if you need protection from the sun. You'll want shoes that can get wet, teva-type sandals that are secure on your feet are good. We'll send a complete packing list that details everything you'll need. We are located at Jagged Edge Sporting good where you can buy all the cool geeky camping stuff your heart desires.
Do we have to kayak the entire time?
Our intention is to kayak as much as possible. During trips that have long stretches of flatwater (i.e. Cataract Canyon) we will use motors to get to the rapids. If you become tired you're more then welcome to jump onto a raft and relax. Just don't make the raft guides carry your kayak the entire time.
